These are some of the roofs we worked on recently.

    A full new tiled roof

  • The same house twice. On top the old tiles are worn, stained and lifted around a leaking window. Underneath the roof is clean, dark and sitting flat again.

Answers to Your Questions

  • Loose pieces of mortar on the ground, damaged bricks or damp near the chimney can be signs that it needs checking. A leak can also come from the lead around its base. We inspect the chimney and the nearby roof, then show you photos of the problem. You can see which parts need work and ask us to explain the repair.

  • It depends on how much brickwork or lead needs attention and how we can reach the chimney. Repointing a small area is different from rebuilding a damaged section. Scaffolding may also be needed. We inspect it first and give you a free written quote that lists the work and access costs, so you know what is included.

  • Yes. Rain can enter through open mortar joints or gaps in the lead where the chimney meets the roof. Water may then show up as damp near a chimney breast or on a ceiling below. We check the chimney and the surrounding tiles to find the cause. The repair depends on where the water is getting through.

  • We can look at both options. First we need to know if any fireplace, stove or other appliance still uses it, and whether it is shared with a neighbour. An unused chimney may still need ventilation. We check the chimney, explain what capping or removal would involve and give you a quote for the agreed work.
